Bible Verses on the Second Coming of Christ and the End of this World.
Jesus Comes With All of His Angels With Him
"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:" Matthew 25:31
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:" 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8
Dead who were Righteous are Raised, Then Taken to Heaven
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive [and] remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17
The World will be Burnt up and Destroyed
"The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the
night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with
a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent
heat, the earth also and the works that are therein
shall be burned up.
[Seeing] then [that] all these things shall be dissolved,
what manner [of persons] ought ye to be in [all] holy
conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of
God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for
new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things,
be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without
spot, and blameless.
And account [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is]
salvation;" 2 Peter 3:9-15
God is Merciful and Delays because of His Great Love for Us
The end of this world is surely coming quickly, but
Jesus waits and delays His return because of His great
love and mercy wanting every one to repent of their
sins.
"The Lord is not slack
concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any
should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9
The Bible says that God is "merciful and gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping
mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression
and sin, and that will by no means clear [the guilty];"
Exodus 34:6-7
Many Bible writers have described the events of the
end:
"Fear, and the pit, and the snare, [are] upon
thee, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall come to
pass, [that] he who fleeth from the noise of the fear
shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of
the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for
the windows from on high are open, and the foundations
of the earth do shake.
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean
dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth
shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be
removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof
shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise
again." Isaiah 24:18-20
